Thankful 1.jpg

I believe that it's never too late to reflect on the year, which is a good thing since January has almost come and gone.  But the predominant thought I had for 2011 was thankful.  I'm thankful for the people I've worked with, for the opportunities that have been given me, and yes, for even the challenges that have made me (sometimes painfully) grow.

I've had my work featured on some wonderful blogs like Grey Likes Weddings and Style Me Pretty,  and I've run my first half marathon in Las Vegas this past December.  It's been a wonderful year and I look forward to the next one.  Hello 2012, what will you bring?

These are a few photos from a brief daytrip to Cordoba.  That the day the heat was so scorching it was quite a relief to duck into the cool, dark interiors of the Great Mosque.  Once a pagan temple turned mosque turned Roman Catholic Church, it's a fascinating series of layers and incongruous designs elements.

There's something about the holidays that makes me long for snowy white landscapes, snug cabins, and hot chocolate.

We caught the tiniest last bit of apple season this year at Oak Glen's apple butter festival.  Warm sunshine, bright leaves, and sounds of bluegrass made this corner of California feel like a completely different place.

I remember picking apples here as a child, we even had a magnet on our wall as a reminder of our adventures.  But this time a wagon ride behind a pair of Belgian drafthorses was a pleasant way of experiencing Los Rios' apple orchards.

Just about the best apple pie a la mode I ever had.  I kid you not.  Warm and flaky with a generous helping of vanilla ice cream...

I love this set! Wished I had gone there to taste the pie, even though it was sort of a long drive. But boy, that pie sounds and looks delicious!
